A Harvey man was charged with battery after police said he touched a woman without consent at a bus stop near Orland Square Mall on July 16.
Alex Washington, 42, of the 14700 block of Center Avenue, approached the woman at the bus stop and made unsolicited remarks, police said. He then placed a bag containing alcohol on the ground beneath her legs and touched her in what police described as “a provoking and insulting manner,” according to a police report.
When the woman told him to stop, Washington “pulled the woman closer to him,” police said.
Washington was charged with battery and issued a lifetime no-trespass order from Orland Square Mall.
