Together they have three children – Vic, Carin, and Phillip “Duke.”
Known to everyone as Marj, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother, who was the heart of the Hudson family.
Marj graduated from Prairie State College and began her career as a teacher at Serena Hills School in Chicago Heights. While living in Peotone, she served as president of the Peotone Library Board for two years and dedicated countless hours to raising funds for the restoration of the town’s historic windmill
Following retirement, the couple moved to West Lafayette, where they found their perfect home and were blessed with wonderful neighbors. Together they enthusiastically embraced the Purdue community, attending sporting events, concerts, and lectures. Marj was a proud member of the Purdue Women’s Club for more than 20 years and formed many lasting friendships, while cheering on Purdue football, men’s and women’s basketball, and women’s volleyball teams.
A die-hard Cub fan, she also found great joy in gardening, needlepoint, and was well known for baking chocolate chip cookies for her husband and grateful neighbors, a simple gesture that reflected her generous spirit.
Marj is survived by her beloved husband, Eugene “Rip;” her children, Vic (Laurie), Carin (Lee), and Duke (Tammie); and her cherished grandchildren, Brett, Drake, and Kane.
Marj’s greatest joy was her family. She celebrated every milestone, offered unwavering love and encouragement, and created a home where everyone felt welcome. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and devotion to family will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
