Barbara Ann Koehn, 74

Barbara Ann Koehn, 74, of Peotone, died on July 27, 2026, at Riverside Hospital in Kankakee.

Born at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet on August 2, 1951, she was the daughter of Harris and Kathleen (Batson) Koehn. Barb was educated in the Peotone schools and graduated from Peotone High School in 1969. She attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale for one year before deciding to attend Doree School of Beauty Culture. She became a beautician and also taught beauty culture. She later earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science at Joliet Junior College and began her career with AT&T/Lucent Technologies. She took an early retirement offer due to her rheumatoid arthritis.

She enjoyed staying in touch with family and friends, reading, watching old movies, and looking through recipes, even if she had no intention of making the dishes.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her only brother, Ronald H. (Constance H.) Koehn of Fulton; one aunt, Rita A. Batson, of Peotone; and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Fedde-Helfrich-Cross Funeral Home, 112 W. Main Street, Peotone, on Tuesday, August 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 311 W. Corning Avenue, Peotone, on Wednesday, August 5, at 11 a.m. There will be additional visitation at church from 10 – 11 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Burial will be at Peotone Cemetery. Memorials may be given to her church, Immanuel United Church of Christ in Peotone.
