There were plenty of honors to go around at Orland Park’s July 20 Committee of the Whole meeting.

Mayor James Dodge had a lot of reading to do as he went through some proclamations during the meeting.

ScoutsBSA Troop 318 earned the Organization of the Month award for July.

According to a proclamation, the Orland Park-based group officially launched in 1938 spanning close to 90 years of fostering character, leadership, mental grit and physical fitness.

The group also produced several Eagle Scouts over the years who represent “countless hours of community service projects that have beautified, restored and supported local parks, historical landmarks, animal shelters and communities.”

The Orland Park Sting FC organization, Elite Training and Holistic Player Development won the Community Pride Award.

In its proclamation, the Sting was complimented for building up a strong program the past 20-plus years.

“Since its founding in 2013, it has established itself as a premier travel soccer club and a cornerstone of youth development in the southwest suburbs,” the proclamation read.

Dodge also called the organization, “A powerful community powerhouse supporting over 28 teams and more than 350 dedicated young athletes guiding them to reach elite levels of competition.”

The team proved that in 2026 when the 13U boys team on the Great Lakes Presidents Cup Regional and made it to the United States Youth Soccer National Presidents Cup semifinals in July in Wichita, Kansas.

OPA! Modern Greek Cuisine restaurant earned honors for being the Business of the Month.

The proclamation lauds the restaurant for having a “steadfast mission to bring the authentic flavors, vibrant traditions and rich heritage of Greece to the residents of Orland Park and the surrounding South suburbs.”

It also praised the restaurant, located at 8801 W. 143rd St. for being “an active member of the Orland Park Area Chamber of Commerce. OPA! Modern Greek Cuisine has consistently demonstrated a commitment to community collaboration, local investment and exceptional civic hospitality.”
