A man residing in Alabama reported on July 3 that an unknown person used his personal information at Best Buy, 11 Countryside Plaza, to purchase a laptop computer for $603.61.
Liquor stolen from Jewel on July 4
A loss prevention employee at Jewel, 5545 Brainard Ave., reported that a man stole $417.91 in liquor at 12:54 p.m. July 4.
The suspect wore a gray shirt and blue jeans and was last seen driving out of the parking lot in a black Volkswagen Jetta.
Man charged with social hosting
A 62-year-old man in the 5600 block of Madison Street was charged with social hosting at 12:35 a.m. July 5, police said.
He was cited after a juvenile who consumed alcohol at his residence required an ambulance due to high alcohol intoxication.
Police did not release the man’s name or information about the youth’s condition.
Man loses $1,051 in online scam
A man in the 9800 block of Joliet Road reported at 1:49 a.m. July 7 that he lost $1,051 to a man he met on Facebook.
The victim had contacted the man, who claimed to be an attorney regarding a legal issue, and eventually paid him $1,051 via Zelle.
The victim later became suspicious and consulted with a real attorney, who confirmed he had been scammed.
Juveniles egg house after dispute about cat
A woman reported at 9:44 a.m. July 7 that juveniles egged her house in the 9800 block of Joliet Road.
She said the eggs were thrown after an exchange with the juveniles, who she said had been bothering her cat.
Phone stolen from fitness center
A man reported that his cell phone was stolen from LA Fitness, 5917 S. La Grange Road, at approximately 4 p.m. July 7, He said it was stolen after he set the phone down in the bathroom.
Dine and dash at Texas Roadhouse
An employee at Texas Roadhouse, 9960 Joliet Road, reported that a customer left the restaurant without paying a $22 bill at 4:14 p.m. July 8.
When officers located the customer a short distance away, restaurant employees declined to prosecute and requested he be issued a trespass warning.
Hit-and-run at busy intersection
A man reported at 9:42 p.m. July 8 that his vehicle was struck by a hit-and-run driver at the intersection of Plainfield Road and Willow Springs Road.
The victim said he was rear-ended by a black SUV, which drove away when he pulled over after the crash.
