The La Grange Business Association will host its first Oktoberfest street festival over the last weekend of September.
The three-day German-themed event designed to showcase local restaurants and businesses and support community nonprofits.
The event will take placeCalendar Street between La Grange Road and Ashland Avenue.
The hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Sept. 25, noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 26 and noon to 9 p.m. Sept. 27.
The festival will feature live music, games, food, and drinks. Road closures will extend from early Friday morning through early Monday morning.
Event details:
• Private security will provide six personnel during peak hours; police will maintain a presence throughout the weekend.
• Alcohol service will be conducted by licensed businesses adjacent to the event.
• The village has waived the $200 permit fee and an estimated $5,196 in staff time costs.
• Local nonprofits will participate through games and fundraising opportunities.
• The event will prioritize La Grange businesses, with opportunities for tent vendors.
Dan Mulka, the LGBA’s executive director, at the July 13 village board meeting said the organization worked with its restaurant committee and village staff to create “a true community event” that would appeal to families and businesses alike.
Trustees praised the effort.
