Asmaa Elhalawany, 30, of Orland Hills, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after driving her car into a retention pond June 30 near 163rd Street and LaGrange Road, police said.
Officers who helped remove her from the vehicle reported smelling alcohol on her breath. When asked if she had consumed alcohol, Elhalawany gave a response that made no sense to police: “Ten cents per kilowatt per hour,” according to the police report.
