St. Paul United Church of Christ in Monee will dedicate its building as an official Will County Historical Site on Sunday, July 26, with a ceremony, followed by a free community picnic.
The dedication, at 11:45 a.m., “honors the generations of faithful people who built this church and kept its doors open for more than a century and a half.”
The picnic will be held in the church hall at 12:30 p.m.
Church officials opted for an indoor picnic, keeping in mind the possibility of continued dangerous or at least uncomfortable summer temperatures.
Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and drinks will be served. There also will be games, both indoors and outdoors, as well.
Sunday worship, the dedication and picnic are open to the public. Worship begins at 10:30 a.m.
Located at 5323 W. Margaret Street, the church is one of the village’s oldest structures, along with the St. Paul Cemetery, St. Boniface Catholic Church and the Furst mansion.
