A new Jet’s Pizza location opened this week at 6100 S. Archer Road, marking the chain’s expansion into Summit and the 43rd Illinois location for the Michigan-based pizzeria.

PJ, the owner, said the restaurant has drawn steady traffic since its Monday opening. The first day brought around 100 customers, with subsequent days averaging 80 to 90 visitors. He said the recent wildfire smoke and ongoing construction slows it down a bit.

“If I eat one slice, that basically fills me up,” PJ said, highlighting the hearty portions that come with the restaurant’s signature Detroit-style deep dish pizza.

Unlike Chicago’s traditional deep dish, Jet’s Detroit-style pizza is fluffier with caramelized, crispy edges—what the chain calls “corner pieces.” The pizzas are cooked in cast iron pans using fresh dough made daily and hand-pressed before cooking.

The restaurant offers slices throughout the day for under $4, with a two-slice combo that includes a drink. First-time customers can sample the Detroit style without committing to a full pizza.

Beyond its signature offering, Jet’s serves hand-tossed, New York-style, and thin-crust pizzas, as well as cauliflower crust options. All pizzas come with complimentary crust toppings—butter, garlic, Romano, or a combination called the Togo crust—at no extra charge.

There’s also wings, breads, deli boats, salads, and desserts.

PJ expects the restaurant to see increased traffic as word spreads.
