A 50-year-old Orland Park woman was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police after allegedly stealing a bottle of alcohol from Jewel on June 19.
Police said Rose Schaults took the bottle and ignored employees’ commands to stop. She fled in a gray Kia Soul when officers attempted to stop her near 159th Street and LaGrange Road.
Officers pursued the vehicle but discontinued the chase citing safety concerns. Police went to Schaults’ Orland Park address but she was not there.
On June 21, Schaults entered an Orland Park 7-Eleven and requested an ambulance for assistance with alcohol withdrawal. She was transported to Northwestern Palos Hospital.
Schaults was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police. Police said she could have received a verbal warning for the alleged theft.
