The Village of Indian Head Park has landed fresh funding to keep its Monthly Older Adult Luncheon Program alive — and thriving.

With support from the Lyons Township Mental Health Commission and Aging Care Connections, the village will continue hosting free nutritious meals and social gatherings for older residents on the third Thursday of each month at Village Hall, 201 Acacia Drive.

The luncheons do more than fill a plate. They connect seniors with neighbors, introduce them to community resources, and help them stay engaged and independent.

“Good nutrition and social connection are essential to healthy aging,” said Desiree Scully, Executive Director of Aging Care Connections. “This partnership lets us bring meals, companionship, and resources directly to where older adults feel welcome.”

The program is open to anyone 60 years of age or older from any community.

The program draws funding from three sources: the federal Older Americans Act Title IIIC Nutrition Program, the Lyons Township Mental Health Commission, and the village — a rare alignment of federal, local, and nonprofit muscle.

“This is what collaboration looks like,” said Village Administrator Gavin Morgan. “When government at every level works with trusted nonprofits, we deliver real value to the people we serve.”

Older adults interested in attending should contact Aging Care Connections for registration details.
