Vernon Hills man charged after passenger swap attempt

Jacob I. Hatcher, 20, of Vernon Hills, was charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop at 1:15 p.m. June 28 in the 4300 block of Southwest Highway.

Hatcher and his passenger, Freuonna F. Warren, 19, of Chicago, were also charged with obstructing a police officer after police saw them switching seats in the car, apparently to make it appear Warren had been driving.

Hatcher was cited for driving with a cracked windshield. Both are due in court July 30.

South Holland resident faces multiple charges after Home Depot parking lot arrest

Charles L. Cazley Jr., 38, of South Holland, was arrested in the parking lot of Home Depot, 4060 W. 95th St., at 4:20 p.m. June 28.

Police, responding to a retail theft report at Walgreens, 6001 W. 95th St., followed Cazley and recovered energy drinks worth $170 that had been stolen from the store.

Officers found containers of methadone in liquid and pill form in his car, leading to three counts of possession of a controlled substance. Cazley was also charged with theft of credit cards and IDs belonging to two other people, as well as possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

He was due in court June 30.

Chicago resident charged with retail theft at Walgreens and FedEx

Korey J. Olette, 34, of Chicago, was charged with two counts of retail theft after allegedly stealing merchandise from two stores before fleeing to Burger King, 4545 W. 95th St., where she was arrested at 11 a.m. July 1.

Police said Olette took items including candy, a hat, and deodorant worth $78 from Walgreens, 4740 W. 95th St., and a $19 portable charger from FedEx, 4710 W. 95th St.

A court date is scheduled for Aug. 17.

Driver charged with DUI after failing sobriety tests

Glenwood man’s blood-alcohol content more than twice legal limit

Adrian Desiderio, 38, of Glenwood, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at 1:26 a.m. June 27 at 111th Street and South Cicero Avenue.

Police said Desiderio failed field sobriety tests and registered 0.172 blood-alcohol content on a breath test, more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.

He was due in court July 9.

Repeat shoplifter arrested at Target

Chicago man suspected in multiple thefts across stores

Nathan L. Thomas, 36, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft at Target, 4120 W. 95th St., at 12:45 p.m. June 26 after being stopped outside with bottles of tequila worth $340.

Store employees identified him as a suspect in a similar theft there on June 25. Evergreen Park police said he is suspected of several thefts there as well.

Court information was not available.

Hometown resident accused of threats and slurs outside grocery store

Jon P. Bonamer, 71, of Hometown, was charged with two counts of assault after allegedly verbally attacking two people outside Jewel, 9424 S. Pulaski Road, at 10 a.m. June 26.

Police said Bonamer shouted a racial slur at a woman as they both were leaving the store, threatened to kill her, and told her to “go back to Englewood.” He also threatened to kill a man who came to the woman’s assistance. Police recognized Bonamer sitting on a bus stop bench near the store and charged him with criminal trespassing because he had been banned from the store for previous incidents.

Bonamer is due in court July 22.
