Children and their favorite teddy bears will have a chance to share the spotlight later this month when Orland Square Mall hosts an afternoon designed around cuddly companions and summertime fun.

The Teddy Bear Picnic, scheduled from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, invites families to slow down for a few hours and enjoy the simple joys of childhood. In partnership with Build-A-Bear, the event will fill the upper-level Von Maur wing with colorful activities, smiling faces and plenty of opportunities to make memories at Orland Square Mall, 288 Orland Square Drive in Orland Park.

Children can have their faces painted, pick out a fun airbrush tattoo, sport colorful mermaid braids and watch balloon artists twist ordinary balloons into playful creations. The activities are meant to keep youngsters moving from one surprise to the next while parents enjoy watching the excitement unfold.

One of the afternoon’s biggest moments will come when Bearamy, the lovable Build-A-Bear mascot, makes a special appearance. Children will have the chance to meet the furry friend, pose for photos and share a few hugs along the way.

The event is as much about family time as it is teddy bears. Whether a child arrives with a treasured stuffed companion that’s been loved for years or simply comes ready for an afternoon of fun, the picnic offers a chance to celebrate summer before the back-to-school season begins.

The Teddy Bear Picnic will take place in the upper-level Von Maur wing.
