Unlicensed driver found with suspended registration

Oscar Malpica-Santos, 37, of Oak Lawn, was charged with driving without a license following a traffic stop at 10:09 a.m. June 18 in the 5100 block of West 95th Street. Police also cited him for driving a vehicle with suspended registration and no insurance. He is due in court July 30.

Erratic driver charged with aggravated DUI

Luis A. Frias-Escobedo, 60, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, a felony, following a traffic stop at 3:54 p.m. June 23 at Southwest Highway and 95th Street. Police said he was observed driving erratically and nearly struck a construction vehicle. He failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit a breath sample. Frias-Escobedo was also charged with driving without a license or insurance, driving with a suspended license and illegal transportation of open alcohol in a vehicle. He was due in court June 25.

Wrong registration leads to unlicensed driver charge

Ronald Walter, 61, of Chicago, was charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop at 11:01 a.m. June 23 in the 4000 block of West 95th Street. Police said he was also charged with improper use of registration because a temporary registration tag displayed in the rear window was assigned to a different vehicle. He is due in court July 30.

Man caught stealing liquor and clothing

Shawn Harvey, 23, of Oak Park, was charged with felony retail theft following his arrest at Target, 4120 W. 95th St., at 12:29 p.m. June 23. Police said they responded to a report of theft in progress and detained him as he tried to leave the store with merchandise worth $523 hidden in his clothing and a bookbag. The items included two bottles of tequila, clothing, a wallet and other goods. He was also charged with criminal trespassing. Court information was not available.

Attempted wine theft at Cooper’s Hawk fails

Clyde Butler, 29, of Chicago, was charged with attempted retail theft at Cooper’s Hawk restaurant, 4830 W. 111th St., at 8:27 p.m. June 19. Police said he attempted to pick up someone else’s order of 36 bottles of wine worth $875 after adding his name to the other person’s account. He is due in court July 9.

Man caught with gun and stolen car

Ignacio A. Gallardo, 26, of Burbank, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon when police investigating a stolen vehicle found him beside it in an alley on 53rd Court at 11:19 a.m. June 20. Police said he was rummaging through a bag that held a 9mm Taurus handgun. He was also charged with criminal trespassing to a motor vehicle, reckless conduct and theft of personal property. Gallardo was due in court June 22.
