Police have identified the man killed Monday morning during a four-car crash near Orland Square Mall as a Palos Hills resident, Orland Park police said.
The incident occurred near 149th Street and LaGrange Road and prompted a significant emergency response.
Orland emergency crews responded to the scene and found four vehicles involved, with three sustaining heavy damage.
One individual – a pedestrian later identified as Antoni Luczynski, 66, of Palos Hills – suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Three additional patients suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate and were treated on scene prior to being transported to area hospitals.
First responders were assisted with additional resources from Palos to work alongside Orland firefighter companies in treatment and transport.
LaGrange Road remained closed for several hours afterwards, causing significant traffic delays and impacting commuters throughout the area. Motorists were advised to seek alternate routes.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation by Orland Park Police. cly disclosed.
