Steve Kramer, who spent 33 years maintaining La Grange’s water, sewer, and street infrastructure, was honored by the Village Board on June 8 for his dedication to public service.
He retired as a foreperson.
The board unanimously passed a resolution of appreciation recognizing Kramer’s career in forestry, asphalt and concrete repairs, and water and sewer maintenance.
Kramer joined the Public Works Department as a laborer in 1992, briefly left to work for the city of Naperville, and returned permanently in 1994. He was promoted to crew leader in 1999 and foreperson in September 2023.
Village President Mark Kuchler noted that Kramer was integral to training employees on equipment and safety procedures throughout his tenure.
The resolution highlighted his “exemplary customer service skills” and “superb knowledge of the Village infrastructure.”
“His commitment to public service and his love of La Grange is reflected in his attention to detail,” the resolution stated.
