Hit and run damages vehicle

A witness saw a gold Honda sedan driven by a woman back out of a parking space and hit a parked vehicle outside Jewel, 5545 S. Brainard Ave., at 6:12 p.m. on June 5.

Motorcycle stolen from parking lot

A motorcycle was stolen between 9:30 p.m. June 4 and 10:30 p.m. June 5 from a parking lot in the 9900 block of West 58th Street.

Bottle of liquor stolen from Mainstreet

A man wearing a black hat and black sweatshirt stole a bottle of Hennessy from Mainstreet Wine & Spirits, 5425 S. La Grange Road, around noon on June 7. Upon exiting, he ran to a white Hyundai SUV waiting in the alley and fled.

Graffiti found on two fences

An officer on patrol found black spray-painted graffiti on a wooden fence in the 9900 block of Lorraine Drive at 4 p.m. on June 9. More graffiti was found on a wooden fence in the 5700 block of La Grange Road at 7 a.m. on June 10.

Four vehicles entered in parking lot

Four unlocked vehicles parked in the 5100 block of Dansher Road were entered between 2 and 3 p.m. on June 9. Miscellaneous items were stolen, owners said.

A fifth vehicle had a damaged door handle but was not entered. The break-ins were reported June 10.

Truck and trailer stolen, later found in New Jersey

A semi-truck and trailer were stolen from Infinity Freight System, 9835 W. 56th St., after someone disconnected the GPS unit. Both were later located in Cherry Hill, N.J., police said on June 11.

Five vehicles damaged

Between 3 p.m. June 8 and 2 a.m. June 9, someone attempted to gain entry to five vehicles parked in a lot adjacent to Voyant Beauty, 5331 Dansher Road.

Damage was observed to driver’s door handles and locking mechanisms. One vehicle was keyed.

Crash ends chase

A vehicle fleeing a McCook police car entered Countryside heading southbound on Brainard Avenue late June 11. The vehicle continued to elude police until it crashed in the 6700 block of Brainard Avenue near the dead end at 11:37 p.m.

The driver was taken into custody and turned over to the McCook Police Department for prosecution.

Countryside senior charged with drunken driving

William L. Baronti, 79, of Countryside, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after his car hit a condominium garage door in the 6700 block of Brainard Avenue.

Officers noticed signs of impairment when they spoke with him at his condo, police said.

After field sobriety tests, Baronti was arrested for DUI and transported to the station, where he refused further chemical testing. He was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

La Grange man charged with drunken driving

Matthew Hopkins, 40, of La Grange, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a two-vehicle crash at 5:40 p.m. on June 7 at La Grange Road and Joliet Road, police said.

Officers noticed signs of impairment. After field sobriety tests, he provided a breath sample revealing a blood alcohol content of 0.229, well above the 0.08 legal limit, police said. Hopkins was also charged with disobeying a traffic control device and driving without insurance.

Police report information is provided by law enforcement agencies. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions taken. Persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proved guilty in a court of law.
