Car flees and eludes officer

La Grange police were following a stolen vehicle on May 1 when McCook police spotted it speeding at Rochester Avenue and Dubois Boulevard.

The officer gave chase and twice deployed the StarChase system, which fires a magnetic device that allows the vehicle to be tracked. Both attempts failed. When the suspect’s car entered Interstate 55, the officer ended the pursuit.

Suspect flees, avoids arrest

An officer received a license plate reader alert on May 4 about a vehicle wanted in Skokie for aggravated fleeing and eluding. The officer spotted it on Route 171 and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver did not pull over.

The officer empolyed the StarChase device, but it did not succeed. The vehicle fled at high speed and the officer ended the chase.

Losing gambler disturbs other customers

Police responded to JC’s Ristorante, 8650 Joliet Road, on May 8 after a man caused a disturbance.

He had been playing gaming machines and losing money, which made him irate. He swore at customers before being asked to leave. He left before police arrived.

Wallet stolen from purse; backpack stolen

A woman reported on May 13 that someone stole her wallet from her purse, which she had left in an unsecured area at her workplace in the 8600 block of West 47th Street.

On May 20, another woman reported that her backpack was stolen from a common area at the same business.

Public urination citation

A man was cited for public urination on May 16 in the 8100 block of Joliet Road. The man told police he “could not hold it” and relieved himself.
