Students in white communion dresses and suits led a Eucharistic procession Sunday, June 7, from St. Leonard Church in Berwyn to St. Pius X in Stickney, marking the Solemnity of Corpus Christi and celebrating children who recently received their First Communion.
The procession began after the 1:30 p.m. Mass at St. Leonard Church, 3318 South Clarence Avenue, and traveled to St. Pius X, 4300 Oak Park Ave. All children who received First Communion this year were invited to participate in their ceremonial garments.
The Solemnity of Corpus Christi is a significant occasion in the Catholic Church honoring the Eucharist. For the children and families involved, it marks a milestone in their faith journey.
