Joyce Leah Troxel Blattner, known lovingly to family and friends as Joyce, passed away on May 30, 2026, in Woodridge, Illinois, at the age of 78, following health complications. She was born on May 30, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois.
Joyce was the beloved daughter of the late Wilbert and Olive Troxel. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Dawn and Nancy Troxel, and her brother, Tom Troxel. She is survived by her brother, John Troxel.
She was a loving wife to Kenneth Blattner and a devoted mother to Tom Cerney, Angela Cerney, Scott Cerney, Andy Blattner, and Kim Blattner. Joyce cherished her role as grandmother to Ian Cerney, Seth Phillips, JoyLeah Phillips, Danielle Dalton, and Cameron Cerney, and great-grandmother to Lettie Cerney and Maren Cerney. Her family was the center of her life, and she gave them her heart, her strength, and her steady encouragement throughout the years.
Joyce graduated from Blue River High School in Wisconsin. She went on to work as a floor woman, where she was known for her dependable work ethic and her willingness to do whatever was needed. Beyond her employment, Joyce devoted much of her life to helping raise and put 14 children through school, a reflection of her extraordinary generosity and her deep belief in caring for others.
Those who knew Joyce will remember her for her love of music, especially the songs of Elvis Presley, which brought her joy throughout her life. She also found comfort in reading and spent many peaceful hours sitting on her beautiful floral patio, enjoying the simple moments that made her happiest. Joyce had a gift for making others feel welcome and cared for, and her humor and warmth often brightened the lives of those around her.
Joyce leaves behind a lasting legacy of devotion to family, generosity toward others, and a spirit that remained strong through every season of life.
Visitation and Celebration of Life: Thursday, June 11, 2026, 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
