Aniela Stepien

Aniela Stepien, a longtime member of the Polish-American community on the South Side, died June 3. She was 95.

Stepien was born Aniela Obrochta. She was a devoted member of ZPPA Kolo Nr. 30 Ciche, a Polish-American cultural organization.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franciszek Stepien, and by her parents, Katarzyna Klejka Obrochta and Ludwik Obrochta. She was also preceded by six siblings.

She is survived by five children: Maria Michniak, Czeslawa Szymusiak, Bronislawa Leja, Stanislaw Stepien and Krystyna Morawa. She had 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Monday, June 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Ave., Justice, Illinois.

A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady Mother of the Church Polish Mission, 116 Hilton St., Willow Springs, Illinois. Prayers and a procession will begin at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice.
