The Township of Lyons and Village of Bridgeview will host a free document-shredding event Saturday, June 13, 8 a.m. to noon, at Commissioners Park, 8100 S. Beloit, Bridgeview.

Residents can bring up to four banker boxes of documents to be destroyed onsite. The event runs until noon or until the shredding truck reaches capacity.
Township Clerk Elyse Hoffenberg said the free events address a real concern for residents managing sensitive paperwork.
“Identity theft and fraud continue to be significant concerns,” Hoffenberg said. “Events like this give people a safe, secure, and convenient way to dispose of sensitive documents they no longer need.”
The shred event is one of several free community services the township has launched in recent years to bring valuable services directly into the community, Hoffenberg said. The office also organizes electronics recycling events and Repair Cafés, where residents can learn to fix broken items instead of discarding them.
“Good government should make it easier for people to do the right thing,” Hoffenberg said.
