Bridgeview is resurfacing nearly half a mile of streets and modernizing its stormwater system through a multimillion-dollar infrastructure push designed to be completed by year’s end.

The Street Paving and Infrastructure Program targets structural deterioration before winter, aiming to reduce long-term maintenance costs and boost property values. The work includes full-depth asphalt resurfacing, ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps, and upgraded storm drainage systems.

“By addressing road deterioration now, we’re preventing far costlier repairs down the road,” Mayor Steve Landek said.

The village is investing over $100,000 in the effort, funded through local capital improvement reserves and matching state grants from the Illinois Department of Transportation, according to Public Works Committee Chairman Gary Lewis.

Construction is phased to minimize disruption: daytime rolling closures keep roads open for evening parking, high-traffic corridors near SeatGeek Stadium are prioritized, and electronic signs alert residents days in advance.

Streets scheduled for resurfacing in 2026

• 77th Street (Sholer Avenue to Roberts Road)

• 80th Street (7700 block to 78th Avenue)

• 83rd Street (Harlem Avenue to Oketo Avenue)

• Homestead Lane (91st Street to Stanford Drive)

• Beloit Avenue (91st Street to 92nd Street)

• Stickney Avenue (79th Street to 78th Street)

Construction is limited to strict daytime windows, ensuring roads are open for local residential parking by evening.

IDOT is simultaneously reconstructing the Harlem Avenue and 95th Street interchange — a $43.3 million project running through year’s end — and resurfacing the 95th Street corridor between I-294 and New England Avenue.

Residents should expect daytime lane shifts and temporary closures. Variable message signs will announce specific paving dates.
