Package worth $260 is stolen

A 27-year-old woman told police that a package containing items worth $260 was stolen from outside her apartment door in the 8300 block of South 88th Avenue, police said.

The woman said it had been delivered at 9:26 a.m. May 27 but was not there when she tried to retrieve it at 12:09 p.m.

Speeder arrested on Archer Avenue

A man who, according to radar, was driving 73 miles per hour in a 45-mph zone on Archer Avenue was arrested at 3:45 p.m. May 27, police said.

Jared A. Thornton, town not disclosed, was seen driving his gray 2020 Dodge SUV south on Archer from 71st Street and was pulled over at 88th Avenue.

He was charged with aggravated speeding and having obstructed tinted windows, police said.

Scam costs man $80,000

A 49-year-old man from the 7300 block of South Banks Street told police he lost $80,000 to scammers between April 2 and May 25.

The man thought he was working online with two brokers negotiating deals to purchase bitcoin but eventually realized his money had been stolen when he was unable to access his alleged purchases.

Police are investigating.

Cracked windshield leads to seven tickets

A 34-year-old man who told police he had borrowed his girlfriend’s car to drive to South Holland for a graduation wound up getting seven tickets.

An officer saw the silver 2017 Chevy Impala with a cracked windshield at 1:02 p.m. May 23 and pulled it over in the 8700 block of 88th Avenue in Hickory Hills.

Raleigh D. Thomas, town not disclosed, was charged with having a defective windshield, possession of a counterfeit registration, unlawful display of registration, driving without a valid license, driving without insurance, driving without a valid registration and driving on an expired registration, police said.

The car, registered in Montgomery, had a temporary license plate from Indiana.

No license plate leads to arrest

A man who was driving a car that lacked a front license plate in the 8000 block of eastbound 79th Street was pulled over at 3:13 p.m. May 24 and got two tickets, police said.

Kamal A. Matariyeh, 21, town not disclosed, was charged with driving without a license and possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle outside an approved container.

Revoked license charge for woman

Worod J. Makhlouf, 26, town not disclosed, was charged with driving on a revoked license after a traffic stop at 11:41 a.m. May 25 in the 8000 block of Thomas Street.

An officer on patrol doing a random check determined she was driving with an expired registration and pulled over her gray 2022 Audi.

Suspended registration lands driver in trouble

After a random check determined a van had a suspended registration, an officer pulled over a blue 2005 Honda at Frontage Road and Garden Lane at 11:35 p.m. May 25, police said.

Anthony D. Boscaccy, 30, town not disclosed, was charged with driving on a registration suspended for non-insurance and driving without insurance, police said.
