Orland Park leaders voted to fund the village’s first Patriot’s Day concert to mark the 25th anniversary of the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.

The village board approved $18,000 for the event, though a specific date has not been set.

The concert will be held at Centennial Park West. Details about performers and timing were not provided at the meeting.

Mayor Jim Dodge said the village held a similar commemoration at the 20th anniversary and wanted to mark this milestone. “This year is the 25th anniversary of 9/11,” Dodge said. “We thought it would be an important commemoration.”

Trustee Mike Milani asked whether the concert could have been planned earlier and included in the annual budget rather than requiring a separate amendment.
