An Orland Park man was charged with drunken driving and leaving the scene after he struck another car and took off, police said.

William Connor, 61, of the 8900 block of 140th St., Orland Park, was charged April 28 with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after witnesses told police his car struck another vehicle in a gas station parking lot in the 14200 block of LaGrange Road.

Police said Connor drove off but not before a witness took a photo of Connor’s license plate and gave it to police, who traced him back to his home.

Police arrived at Connor’s residence and said they saw front-end damage consistent with being in an accident.  Police said they also saw liquor bottles on the passenger seat and Connor standing next to his vehicle.

Police said Connor had an odor of alcohol on his breath and his eyes were bloodshot and glassy.  Connor denied drinking alcohol but said he had taken three prescriptions medications, police said.
