Operation N.I.C.E brought clean-up volunteers to Brookfield.

More than 150 Brookfield residents attended a village-sponsored composting event last week, with organizers distributing materials and information on home composting practices such as environmental sustainability and waste reduction.

The event, held in advance of Project Nice, the village’s annual community cleanup day, offered residents information on composting practices and distributed materials to get started at home.

Project Nice cleanup is scheduled for this Saturday, May 16. Residents are invited to participate in neighborhood cleanups throughout Brookfield.

The village has made environmental initiatives a priority, including tree planting programs, native plant restoration, and waste reduction efforts.

The composting event and cleanup day are part of a broader conservation strategy.

Residents interested in participating in Project Nice can register online or show up at designated cleanup sites starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
