Brookfield Police Chief Michael Kuruvilla has been elected vice president of the Illinois Association of Police Chiefs’ West Suburban region.
Village Manager Timothy Wiberg announced the news at the May 11 village board meeting.
Kuruvilla has led the Brookfield Police Department since July 2021.
“Brookfield and our region will benefit from his leadership and his advocacy,” Wiberg said.
Village President Michael Garvey offered congratulations on behalf of himself and the board.
“Congratulations, Chief, and thank you for putting yourself out there and doing this. Your leadership goes beyond the village of Brookfield,” Garvey said.
“I know you’re busy here, but your leadership goes beyond the village of Brookfield,” Garvey said.
The Illinois Association of Police Chiefs represents law enforcement leaders across the state and advocates for professional standards, training, and policy development.
As vice president of the West Suburban region, Kuruvilla will represent the area in association activities and contribute to regional law enforcement initiatives.
