If you’re running errands along Cicero Avenue later this summer, you will see a familiar name moving into Oak Lawn. Comcast plans to open a new Xfinity store at 10401 S. Cicero Ave., giving southwest suburban customers another nearby option for paying bills, upgrading devices, troubleshooting service problems or simply talking to someone face to face.
The new Oak Lawn location is part of a broader expansion by Comcast in south suburban Cook County. Another Xfinity store is expected to open soon in Calumet City at the Lansing Square Shopping Center, but company officials said Oak Lawn’s busy retail corridor made it a natural fit for one of its newest storefronts.
Instead of functioning like a traditional cable store counter, the new location is designed to be more interactive. Customers will be able to test internet speeds, check out mobile phones and accessories, explore home security features and see entertainment products in action.
“Our new Xfinity Stores in Calumet City and Oak Lawn will allow us to meet customers where they live, work, and shop,” said Scott Wottle, Comcast’s regional vice president of sales and marketing. “Xfinity members can expect a welcoming, interactive space where they can explore new products, manage their services, and receive personalized support in a convenient location.”
Oak Lawn Mayor Terry Vorderer welcomed the investment, saying the new store will make it easier for residents to get in-person assistance without traveling outside the area.
“The new Xfinity Store will be a valuable addition to Oak Lawn, providing easy access to reliable services and assistance,” Vorderer said. “We thank Comcast for investing in our village and bringing everyday technology closer to our residents.”
Inside the store, customers will be able to learn about Comcast’s Gigabit internet service, mobile phone plans and home security systems. Comcast Business representatives also will be available to work with local business owners looking for internet, networking or cybersecurity services.
The store will also handle some of the everyday tasks customers often prefer to do in person, including exchanging equipment, setting up new accounts and getting technical support from staff members.
The Oak Lawn location adds to Comcast’s growing footprint across the south suburbs. Existing Xfinity stores already operate in nearby Orland Park, Tinley Park, Evergreen Park, Homewood and Burbank.
When the new store opens later this summer, it will operate Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
