Mark Obrochta

Mark Obrochta, a Chicago native known for his infectious humor, generous spirit and ability to make ordinary moments memorable, died April 30. He was 56.

He died in Culver.

Obrochta was born July 14, 1969, in Chicago.

He had a gift for making people feel included and cared for, remembering small details about those he loved and checking in regularly. Friends and family remembered him as someone with a natural confidence and playful demeanor — the kind of person who could turn an ordinary Tuesday into a story worth retelling. He was known for his loyalty, his willingness to help others and his ability to lighten a room simply by walking into it.

Obrochta worked hard, loved deeply and showed up when it mattered most. He believed the best parts of life were the moments shared with people you love.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium, 7861 S. 88th Avenue, Justice.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at Saint Fabian Church, 7450 W. 83rd Street, Bridgeview. Prayers and a procession will begin at 9 a.m. from the funeral home.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice.
