Kevin King closed the final chapter of a 33-year career Wednesday, April 22, as the longtime Chicago Ridge Park District director attended his last Park Board meeting ahead of his retirement.
Board of Commissioners members honored King during the meeting, recognizing decades of leadership that helped shape the district’s parks, programs and community presence. Speakers highlighted his steady guidance, commitment to residents and the lasting impact of projects completed under his tenure.

King, who spent more than three decades with the district, thanked commissioners, colleagues and the community for their support over the years. His remarks reflected on both challenges and milestones, as well as the relationships built along the way.
Following the meeting, family members, along with current and former staff, gathered to celebrate his career and contributions. The event served as both a farewell and a tribute to a director whose influence will continue to be felt throughout the Chicago Ridge Park District.
