Former Stickney Village Trustee Jeff White passed away April 23 after a lengthy illness.

Former Stickney Village Trustee Jeff White passed away April 23 after a lengthy illness. He was 70 years old.

White served under three mayors during his tenure on the village board — Dan O’Reilly, Debbie Morelli, and current Mayor Jeff Walik.

Before joining the board, he spent one year on the police commission. He retired in 2008 from the car business after 40 years.

He owned a gas station in Nashville and later operated a car sales lot in Chicago. He worked at the Larry Roesch and Napleton family dealerships, where he was known for his strong work ethic, knowledge, and dedication to his craft. He had a natural talent for working with his hands and a deep passion for repairing small engines, a skill he continued to refine throughout his life.

In February, White announced his retirement as a trustee, citing reduced availability.

Jeff White died April 23.

“I don’t feel like I can contribute like I have in the past,” he told the Desplaines Valley News. “When Mayor Walik puts a board together, it’s solid. We have a great board, police and fire departments, and public works department. We are very fortunate.”

White said his work schedule had shifted in recent years, limiting his ability to serve as he once had.

“I hope I have helped make our community a little better, and I will always cherish all the friends I have made,” he said.

The Stickney Police Department posted a tribute on social media: “We are saddened to learn of the loss of one of our trustees, residents, and advocates. May you rest in peace, Jeff White. Our deepest sympathies are extended to his wife and family.”

His wake will take place on Monday, May 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 S. Oak Park Ave., Stickney.

Family and friends will gather at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the funeral home for a service at 10:30 a.m.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Desi, whom he married in 1981.
