The Lights On Collective and Summit Community Network will host a free youth empowerment day for teens Saturday at Nikos Banquets in Bridgeview.

The 3P Youth Empowerment Day runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 13 at 7600 S. Harlem Ave. The event is open to students in grades 7-12 and includes leadership workshops, speakers, live entertainment, lunch, a T-shirt and leadership certificate.

The program focuses on helping teens strengthen their passion, purpose and potential before the holiday season and new year, according to organizers.

Keynote speaker Leon Moody Sr., known as Coach Moody, will deliver “You Got The Power,” a message focused on resilience, identity and overcoming adversity. Teens will learn his F.O.R.G.E. Framework for navigating challenges and building confidence.

Other sessions include Yolaine Jean presenting “What’s Your Passion?”, Mike Lopez leading “Activate Your Purpose” Community Challenge, and Lisa Tucker facilitating “Unlock Your Potential” Success Stories Panel. The event also features a musical performance.

“Research continues to show that when teens participate in positive, meaningful experiences, we see better decision-making, improved confidence, and stronger academic and emotional outcomes,” said April Kates-Ellison, CEO of The Lights on Collective. “The 3P Youth Experience provides a safe, uplifting space for teens to grow.”

Shaun Ellison, the organization’s chief operating officer, said the program aims to help teens recognize their existing strengths.

“Stronger youth create stronger communities, we want teens to recognize the power they already carry, the support networks surrounding them, and their ability to overcome circumstances to build the future they deserve,” Ellison said.
