The holiday season arrived in full glow Friday night as Palos Heights officially switched on its “Lights in the Heights” display, drawing families, neighbors and visitors to Memorial Park for an evening of music, lights and community cheer.

Residents gathered at Memorial Park at 76th Avenue and College Drive, just steps from City Hall, to watch the annual kickoff. Once illuminated, the lights were set to shine from dusk to dawn throughout the holiday season.

The Palos Heights Arts Commission partnered with Artistic Holiday Designs to create the vibrant display, which featured illuminated sculptures and colorful installations arranged throughout the park. The pieces were designed to be interactive and photo-friendly, offering plenty of spots for selfies and Christmas card shots. The Arts Commission also hosted a hot chocolate stand for children and their families, complete with plenty of delicious toppings to enjoy while exploring the lights.

Local community groups provided live holiday music, adding to the festive atmosphere. The Palos Heights Fire Department also rolled in with a special guest from the North Pole, delighting children as Santa arrived aboard a fire truck to greet the crowd.

The event left visitors in high spirits, marking a joyful start to the holiday season in Palos Heights.
