The Orland Fire Protection District is hosting its annual toy drive for needy families and children.

Toy donations can be dropped off at all six OFPD fire stations and the Fire Administration Building.

The OFPD toy drive will continue through Jan. 5, 2026, and is being held in conjunction with Toy Box Connection, a children’s nonprofit located in the south suburbs of Chicago.

Toy Box Connection’s mission is simple yet powerful: to brighten a child’s life with a gift, a book or a memorable day of fun. Many children go without these small joys, and with the help of our community, we can change that. Toy Box Connection serves as the bridge between families and businesses who have new or gently used toys and books to donate and the children who need them the most.

“All toy donations are greatly appreciated from the bottom of our hearts!” said Michelle Maxia, Toy Box Connection owner. “Together, we are one big community of love, lifting spirits of children and families every chance we get and sharing every resource we can to brighten their lives!”

New, unwrapped toys are needed for children of all ages, Maxia said.

Toy gifts are especially needed for teenagers, who are often forgotten during the holiday season. Suggestions include DVDs, video game systems (old or new), games, game accessories, cords or gift cards.
