The Orland Park Public Library celebrated a milestone as fans of all ages flocked to OPPLcon X Fan Fest, marking the tenth year of the library’s beloved pop culture extravaganza. Attendees immersed themselves in a day packed with comics, crafts, games, and magic, finishing with a special performance by Scott Green, the magician for the Chicago Bulls.
The library’s hallways and event spaces buzzed with excitement as kids, teens, and adults alike showed off colorful family-friendly costumes, from caped superheroes to sparkling princesses. The crowd eagerly tackled a Minecraft digital escape room hosted by ArrayScape, tested their creativity at interactive craft stations, and explored the ever-popular Artist Alley, where local creators displayed comics, prints, toys, and handmade merchandise.
Artist Alley showcased the talents of dozens of local creators, including Andrea Sowers of Sowers Creations, Olivia Villasenor, Randy and Kim Hogan, Ewelina J. of Ewelinko Art, Addie Afable of Artistic Dragon Studios, Emily Oliver, Bryana Volk, Mystery Unincorporated, Gabriela Cervantes of FCJ Design, Kyle Robateau of The Bugmangaka, Lavi HQ, Morgan Johnson, Rachel Grimm of Galactic Crafters, Jessica Trudeau of Whimsical WANDerings, Robert Gonzalez, and the Argo Anime Club. Fans mingled, browsed, and purchased one-of-a-kind items, supporting the thriving local art scene.
As part of the tenth-year celebration, attendees also had the chance to win exciting prizes, including a grand Next Playground prize. The event offered a lively mix of creativity, community, and fandom, leaving visitors looking forward to the next year’s celebration.
