While Beecher District 200-U officials are seeking out a new athletic trainer, they are turning to the Beecher Fire Protection District for some help.

At the October 8 board meeting, Supt. Jack Gaham said personnel from the district would be on hand to keep an eye on athletes during events.

“It would be someone who is not on shift that night,” he said. “We’re not pulling anyone off the fire department – it’s going to be off-duty people. It depends on who happens to be available that night.

“It could be Chief (Joe) Falaschetti, but I don’t know if he will do it. It could be somebody else who is an EMT-trained person.”

Good audit

Gaham reported to the board that the annual audit went well, with the exception of one hiccup that was swiftly taken care of.

“They encountered no significant difficulties in dealing with management to perform and complete their audit,” Gaham said. “No disagreements arose.”

Bus money

The board approved to purchase a 2022, 72-person passenger bus for $89,686.

It also approved a Transfinder Bus GPS system for $13,339, although it was not a unanimous decision.

New board member Brad Schroeder balked it was an “expensive perk” that may not be needed if drivers will be equipped with tablets next year. He voted “no.”

District bits

  • The board voted to issue a fourth Notice to Remedy to Jessica Carter. She had received a third notice in May, which included an unpaid suspension.
  • The board approved a $42,645.63 to Allied Services for work to be done in the elementary school, including getting rid of mildew in parts of the building
