Leaves crunched underfoot as families gathered to celebrate the season at The Great Pumpkin Party, enjoying a day filled with autumn activities and festive fun. Children laughed on pony rides, jumped in bounce houses, rode the hay and barrel train cars, and enjoyed delicious fall-themed treats.
The event took place at Centennial Park Warming Center in Orland Park, located at 15600 West Avenue. Additional entertainment included inflatables, a DJ with dancing, sponsor activities, trunk-n-treat, candy guessing, and a pumpkin weight guessing contest. Each child received a pie-sized pumpkin and a goodie bag as part of registration. Organizers noted that activities were subject to change and attendees said it is one of the best events of the year, including Melissa Klimis, who attended with her three-year-old son, Alexander.
“We came last year and had so much fun, so we knew we couldn’t miss it this year,” Klimis, of Orland Park, said.
A highlight of the day was the children’s costume contest, inviting kids to dress as superheroes, princesses, firefighters, or other creative characters. Participants gathered at the DJ tent for a chance to win prizes for Best Overall Costume and Most Creative Costume. The contest was open to children ages 1 to 9.
The celebration provided an opportunity for families to enjoy the season together while creating lasting memories.
