By the end of Curie’s game against Prosser on Sept. 11, two of the Condors’ top players were on the sideline nursing injuries.

Two-way standouts Gabriel Taylor and Kendall Holliday could only watch as Prosser put together an epic 21-play, 99-yard drive that lasted almost the entire fourth quarter and ended with a 13-yard TD pass with four seconds remaining.

That gave the Falcons a 20-14 win at Rockne Stadium.

“We had about five of them down,” Curie coach Jarve Lewis-Bey said. “So we’ve got to heal up and get back on the drawing board, that’s all.”

Sophomore Dream Hinton had his third kickoff return touchdown of the season for Curie (2-1, 0-1 Public League North), a 70-yarder right after Prosser’s first TD.

The Condors also had an 18-yard scoring pass from sophomore backup quarterback Damian Feret to Holliday in the second quarter.

“I think the young kid played all right,” Lewis-Bey said of Feret. “He was just a little shell-shocked when he first got out there. … The future looks bright. We just couldn’t pull it together today.”

Taylor appreciated Feret’s effort, too.

“One thing I can say, the kid can throw the ball,” Taylor said. “He can do that at a high efficiency when he really wants to and has that confidence to do so. So if I’m not able to play next week, look out for him.”

Darius Townsel contributed 62 rushing yards on 16 carries for Curie.

Prosser’s Treyshaun Strong ran 26 times for 179 yards and freshman quarterback JQ Collins passed for 126 yards and three TDs.

Taylor looks for the Condors to bounce back after an 8-0 win over Dyett in Week 2 and this game.

“This was definitely our wake-up game,” he said. “Two games back-to-back — last game we came out with, I would say, a lucky win, because we played another horrible game.

“This is our wake-up game. I don’t think we lose another game after this.”

Goode 38, South Shore 34: Quaylen Dobbs ran 33 times for 159 yards and touchdowns of 58, 35 and 9 yards as the Knights (3-0, 1-0 Public League South) won on the road. Dobbs added a pair of two-point conversions to account for 22 of Goode’s 38 points.

Jordan Boston ran nine times for 71 yards and 12-yard TD to go along with two pass deflections. Aedan Cleveland added 78 yards and a 19-yard TD on 15 carries, while Caron Williams had five tackles (two for loss) and two pass deflections.

Julian 14, Back of the Yards 6: Marko Franco ran for a TD in the fourth quarter for the Bobcats (0-2) in the road loss. Julian took advantage of Back of the Yards’ mistakes, including a bad snap recovered for a touchdown and an interception returned for a TD.

Kennedy 18, Phoenix 14: The Crusaders (2-1) rallied from a 14-0 deficit to win on the road. Mason Rychetsky had TD runs of 1 and 7 yards and threw a 68-yard scoring pass to Jacob Tunstill. Rychetsky also had a 40-yard pass to Tunstill.

Kavarion McCarter and Victor Leal had fumble recoveries for Kennedy, while Victor Sandoval ran for 70 yards. Xavier Guzman added a key sack late and the Crusaders had a 35-yard pass from Rychetsky to McCarter to help ice the win.

Kelly 1, Harlan 0: The Trojans (2-1) picked up a forfeit win.

UIC Prep 46, Solorio 0: Yoatzi Torres had two interceptions for Solorio (0-2).
