Martin Polit

Martin Joseph Polit, 44, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with our Lord recently. He was born Sept. 24, 1980, in Chicago.

Marty was a loving husband, son, brother, and uncle, remembered for his kind heart, quick wit, and deep love for animals. Born at home to Kathleen and Stanley Polit, he kept them on their toes from the very beginning. Though he grew up on the North Side, he stayed true to his South Side roots as a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan. He played hockey at Glenbrook North High School and later worked as a commercial painter while living in Illinois.

In 2007, Marty moved to Midway, Ark., to help his parents run Bull Shoals Lake Resort. For a decade he welcomed guests like family, making sure they felt at home whether sitting by the pool or spending long days on the lake. Outgoing and warm, Marty never met a stranger—and everyone who met him loved him.

It was in Arkansas that he met the love of his life, Kennie Boxill, during a spring break trip in 2009. After years of long-distance dating, Kennie moved to Arkansas to be with him. They married in August 2013, overlooking the White River in Bull Shoals. In 2017, Marty and Kennie moved to San Antonio, where he began a career at Amazon. His dedication, upbeat attitude, and reliability quickly earned him multiple awards and the respect of his coworkers. He was always ready to stay late, lend a hand, or share a laugh.

Marty is survived by his wife, Kennie; his parents, Kathleen and Stanley Polit; brothers Mark (Marycruz) and Michael; nephews Markus and Alexander; uncles Joe (Kathleen) and Mark (Lori); and many cousins including Lisa, Joe, Matt, Marty, Michael, Jess, and Jamie. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Madison Polit; grandparents Alice and Joseph Buczyna; and beloved pets Lady, Misty, Timber, Magic, Mister Kitty, Tess, and Little Kitty.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter are appreciated.
