2025 outlook:
After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2017, the Mustangs are looking to be in the mix in the South Suburban Red and return to the postseason.
There’s a decent amount of experience across the board led by senior receiver/defensive back Josh Matheny, who holds five offers. Other returning starters are senior receiver/defensive back Omarrion Evans (5-9, 155), senior offensive linemen Dominic Nava (6-2, 245) and Joshua Love (5-9, 225), senior defensive lineman Anthony Luna (5-10, 240), senior linebacker Alberto Aranda Jr. (6-2, 185), junior linebacker Gavin Wheeler (5-10, 170), junior running back Cory Isaac (5-10, 180) and junior defensive lineman Garret Kazmierowicz (6-0, 225).
Other veterans expected to step up include junior quarterback Tyler Phelps (5-10, 165) and senior linebackers Axel Salgado (5-9, 170) and Jesus Galvan (5-9, 165).
Senior linebacker Ilias Mendez (5-9, 160), a transfer from Richards, also bolsters the defense. Other newcomers to keep an eye on include junior defensive lineman Landon Robinson-Gwin (5-9, 240), sophomore defensive lineman Frederick Arnold III (5-10, 220), sophomore quarterback Brady Bruen (5-11, 165), sophomore offensive lineman Cai’Vion Wright (5-10, 220) and freshman defensive back Jaylen Chothen (6-2, 170).
