Conference: Public League Blue Central

Head coach: Mark Morgan

2024 record: 4-4

2025 outlook:

This is the year the Bobcats have been pointing toward as their rebuild continues under veteran coach Mark Morgan, who is entering his fifth season.

“Many members of this year’s team wrestled during the winter,” Morgan said. “It is a senior-dominated team looking for much success.”

One goal is winning the Public League Blue Central a year after tying for second with Kelly, a game behind co-champs Solorio and Washington.

Leading the veteran group are a pair of four-year starters: 5-8, 180-pound running back Marko Franco and 6-1, 189-pound receiver/defensive end Sebastian De Paz. Franco ran for 879 yards and 10 touchdowns last season en route to earning all-conference honors, and is aiming to reach 1,000 yards this fall.

Senior two-way lineman Roberto Velez (5-10, 200) was a disruptive force on defense last year with 27 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a sack.

Other returning starters include a pair of sophomore two-way linemen: Ulices Biurquis (5-9, 235) and Angel Gonzalez (5-8, 245). And keep an eye on senior two-way lineman Alberto Hernandez (6-0, 200), senior linebacker/cornerback Julius Chavez (5-8, 155) and junior defensive end/linebacker Richard Garcia.
