Ever wonder where those exuberant guests come from who dream of spinning the Big Wheel for a shot at the Showcase Showdown on The Price is Right?
Well, you could be one of them. The show is hosting a contestant search from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next Friday, August 22, at Steinhafels Furniture store in Orland Park.
The show is looking for two semi-finalists in a casting call at the store, 203 Orland Park Place. The winners will be flown to Los Angeles for a taping of a future episode of the game show hosted by Drew Carey. Hopefuls will have a minute or so to strut their stuff in their auditions.
Hundreds of fans showed up last year when Steinhafels held a similar casting call at its store in Harwood Heights.

New Hollywood Casino now open
Hollywood Casino’s new Joliet facility officially opened to the public on Monday.
The $185 million land-based property at the Interstate 80 and Interstate 55 interchange features approximately 1,000 slots and 43 live table games, including high-limit slots and table games, a baccarat room and an ESPN BET sportsbook.
The casino is owned by Penn Entertainment.
Cicero Avenue road work
IDOT has begun resurfacing Cicero Avenue from 95th Street to 123rd Place (a 3.59-mile stretch) within the municipal limits of the Village of Oak Lawn, Village of Alsip, and the City of Chicago.
Construction is expected to last until August 2026. During this time, motorists should anticipate delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
IDOT is also repaving Cicero from 147th to 157th streets. The work will include spot curb repair and accessibility improvements at intersections. The project is expected to last through September.
Penney stores sold
JCPenney stores in Orland Park, Mokena and North Riverside are among the 119 stores sold last month to Onyx Partners for $947 million.
The deal is expected to close by Sept. 8.
No word was released on what would become of the three stores after the sale is completed.
Other local Penney stores at River Oaks in Calumet City and Matteson were not part of the deal and are expected to remain open.
At Home stores closing
The At Home home furnishing store in Crestwood is one of the chain’s stores that will be closing after the company filed for bankruptcy earlier this summer.
In June, the company announced it would file for Chapter 11 protection to help eliminate $2 billion in debt and provide new funding to “support the company through its restructuring process and beyond.”
The Crestwood store that will be closing is located at 13180 S. Cicero Ave.
