Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced 12 DMV locations including offices in Bridgeview have begun offering walk-in Saturday hours through September 6.
Last Saturday marked the first weekend the Secretary of State’s office had 12 Metro Chicago DMVs open to residents for walk-in hours. Across all the DMV locations, in addition to the eight appointment facilities, staff assisted residents with over 6,200 ID and Driver’s License renewals, updates and replacements as well as nearly 2,300 vehicle services. This is nearly double the number of transactions the DMV normally conducts with traditional appointments.
With the end of summer approaching, many Illinoisans are rushing to finish their summer checklists. To help reduce weekday wait times and increase the number of residents the DMV can serve in August, the office is expanding the number of locations open on Saturdays.
These locations will serve walk-in customers from 7:30 a.m. to noon, offering a variety of express services ranging from renewing driver’s licenses and vehicle registrations to acquiring a REAL ID.
The Bridgeview office is at 7358 W. 87th St. There’s also an office at 570 W. 209th St. in Chicago Heights.
The Midlothian DMV, 14434 S. Pulaski Ave., Midlothian, will maintain their regular appointment only Saturday hours.
During the End-of-Summer Saturday hours, customers can: apply for or renew a driver’s license, state ID card or a REAL ID; switch from a Temporary Visitor Driver’s License (TVDL) to a standard driver’s license; renew their vehicle registration; or apply for persons with disabilities placards. Make sure to visit www.ilsos.gov to check what documents are required for each transaction type.
Illinois residents going to the DMV specifically for a REAL ID can go online to access an interactive checklist to make sure they have the documents they need before heading to a DMV.

Orland DMV should not have to vacate! Ridiculous! It serves a great need for the people!
