Big names from some of the biggest movie franchises are coming to Chicagoland.
You may have fond memories of seeing George Lucas’ out-of-this-world Star Wars prequel trilogy or Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings trilogy brought to life on the big screen with popcorn in your hand and family at your side.
Others may recall the thrill of seeing the 1999 movie, The Mummy, or its slightly less popular 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns.
Still others may know John Cena from his legendary WWE days.
Wherever your interest lies, you’ll likely know one of the big-name actors or franchises hitting Chicagoland August 15-17 at the FanExpo Chicago in Rosemont’s Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.
Iconic Star Wars stars Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Hayden Christensen (Anakin Skywalker) will once again form a dynamic duo on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 17.
The respectively Scottish and Canadian actors are known in part for their work in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, where their master/apprentice relationship develops amid galactic conflicts and their acting in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith where their deeply personal brotherhood ends in dramatic, fiery fashion.
After more than a decade and a half since their roles as jedi knights culminated, the two once again clashed on Disney Plus’s 2022 Obi-Wan Kenobi series, continuing the characters’ legacies as Obi-Wan reconciled his actions with his unrecognizable pupil’s transformation into Darth Vader.
The Star Wars franchise continues to excite fans across generations, and many will be taking the rare opportunity to see these two actors together in-person.
Outside of sci-fi, the high fantasy legend Orlando Bloom who plays the elf warrior Legolas in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit will dash into the FanExpo to regale audiences with his epic tales of battle. Fans may also know him as the swashbuckling Will Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean.
WWE Champion John Cena is sure to please the crowd as he discusses his anti-hero work on DC’s latest season of Peacemaker, and Mummy actor Brendan Fraser and his co-stars will discuss their harrowing experiences.

The FanExpo brings together a diverse array of celebrities, actors, comic artists, anime voice actors, and, of course, the thousands of fans that cosplay as their favorite characters.
