The owner of an Orland Park home escaped safely Saturday morning when it was engulfed by a fire.
Orland firefighters responded to a structure fire call at 6:30 a.m. August 2 in the 15600 block of 112th Court in Orland Park.
On arrival, Engine Company 3 reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the home.
Firefighters deployed a hoseline to attack the fire. Battalion 6 responded and upgraded the alarm. Ventilation holes were cut in the roof. The fire was extinguished shortly after.
The single occupant of the residence made it safely out of the structure without injury and pets were removed by the homeowner prior to arrival of firefighters.
No injuries were reported by responding firefighters.
“The quick response of our firefighters to the fire scene helped to ensure no one was injured and the fire did not spread further,” Interim Fire Chief John Purtill said.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation and is yet to be determined,” he said.
Orland Fire was assisted at the scene by Tinley Fire, Palos Fire, Oak Forest Fire, Homer Fire, Northwest Homer Fire Mokena Fire and Frankfort Fire.
Mutual aid fire departments also provided station coverage while Orland Fire crews were committed to the scene.
