The Village of Oak Lawn will host its annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 5, starting at 6 p.m., at a new location: the Village Green, 9446 S. Raymond Ave.
“National Night Out is one of our favorite nights of the year! It’s a chance for our officers to connect with the community in a relaxed, positive setting. These events help build trust, strengthen relationships, and remind us all that public safety is a shared responsibility. We’re proud to stand alongside our residents and celebrate the partnerships that make our neighborhoods safer and stronger,” said Police Chief Dan Vittorio.
The event is part of a national campaign that promotes community building, crime prevention, and stronger relationships between residents and local law enforcement. Oak Lawn officials encourage residents of all ages to attend and take part in a range of family-friendly activities.
This year’s event will include police and fire department vehicle tours, safety demonstrations, bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, and a live DJ performance at the gazebo stage. Boy Scout Troop 596 and local businesses will also be on-site, offering snacks and refreshments.
The annual gathering gives the community a chance to connect with first responders in an informal setting while highlighting the shared responsibility of public safety. Organizers say this year’s event features several new additions and reimagined attractions designed to refresh the long-standing tradition.
Admission is free and open to the public.
