An employee of Autobarn Volkswagen, 6161 Joliet Road in Countryside, called police after he became suspicious of someone trying to buy a used vehicle.
Police said the individual called on July 10 about buying a used vehicle.
During the call, the employee became suspicious that the person on the phone was not the same person who had provided the online application, police said.
Contact was made with the actual identity holder who confirmed they were not attempting to purchase a vehicle, police said.
