Bye, George.
After helping Lewis baseball reach the NCAA Division II National Tournament, rising senior outfielder George Bilecki is heading west to play at Arizona State.
Bilecki, who prepped at Marist, was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s first team and the 2025 Division II Conference Commissioners’ Association’s Midwest Region second team.
For good measure, Bilecki also was one of four Flyers who were selected to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference First Team.
The Chicago resident hit .361 with 61 runs scored, 14 doubles, three triples, 24 home runs and 67 RBIs.
● Two of Bilecki’s former teammates at Lewis also were honored by the GLVC this past season.
Senior catcher/first baseman Jason Krol was named to the All-GLVC second team after batting .376. The St. Laurence graduate added four doubles, two triples, 39 runs and 36 RBIs.
Senior first baseman/catcher Chris McDevitt also was chosen to the All-GLVC second team after hitting .322 with 15 doubles and 10 home runs. The St. Rita alum tied for second on the team in runs with 57.
● In other transfer news, pitcher Liam McKillop from St. Rita is moving from SIU Edwardsville to Illinois for his final college baseball season and pitcher Abby Dunning from Marist is going from Boston College to Clemson.
An All-Ohio Valley Conference second-team pick, McKillop was 2-0 with two saves and a 2.68 ERA across 24 appearances.
Dunning made the All-Atlantic Coast Conference third team in 2024.
● UIC men’s basketball player Ahmad Henderson II was one of three nominees for the Newcomer of the Year award for a non-freshman male and female student-athlete who excelled in their first year as a Flame.
Henderson, a sophomore guard, transferred from Niagara. The Brother Rice graduate from Chicago was second on the Flames in scoring (11.5 points per game) and steals (38), and was third in assists (2.6 per game) and tied for third in 3-pointers with 41.
