The music starts when the sun dips low behind the trees, and the lawn fills with neighbors spreading blankets and unfolding camp chairs. Coolers clink. Kids chase each other barefoot. A breeze cuts the June heat.
It’s summer concert season again in Palos Park, and the village is ready to turn up the volume.
“It’s amazing that we can bring the community together year after year to kick off the summer,” Palos Park Mayor Nicole Milovich-Walters said.

The 41st concert series season opened Thursday, June 19, with Brass from the Past, a horn-driven band that brought Motown and funk to Memorial Park. Families danced, picnicked and kicked off the three-part concert series with a night of live music and community vibes.
“We have been coming here for years,” Jeff Douglas, of Palos Park, said. “It’s become quite the summer tradition for us.”
For those who missed it, two more shows are still to come on the Village Green, 8901 W. 123rd Street, Palos Park.
On July 16, Hot Dog Day and Concert brings the soulful energy of ReTurn2Soul, alongside hot dogs, chips and drinks for sale. Music runs 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with grounds opening at 4:30 p.m.
The final concert, Concert on the Green, lands on August 21 and features Doug Horne and The Rhythm Makers Orchestra. They’ll play from 6 to 8 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m.
Coolers and pets are welcome at all events. Beverages will be available for purchase.
Whether you come for the brass, the soul or just a warm night under the trees, Palos Park’s summer concerts hit all the right notes.
